Bojnice Castle

Bojnice Castle is one of the 25 most beautiful castles in Europe. The castle lies on the western edge of the town of Bojnice and is visible from most of the upper Ponitria region. It rises on a travertine mound created by a spring of thermal water. It is first mentioned in writing in the Zoborská Charter from 1113. The original wooden fortress was rebuilt into a stone castle during the 13th century. Its most famous owners included Matúš Čák Trenčiansky, King Matěj Korvín and the wealthy noble family of Turz. Zoologická záhrada Bojnice

It is located in the beautiful surroundings of Bojnice Castle. The most interesting exhibitions include the monkey pavilion, elephant pavilion, aquarium and terrarium. Visitors have a terrace for photography, buffets, a summer restaurant, souvenir shops, various attractions for children, climbing frames and there is also a modern zoo-school with a rich library. The zoo’s popular butterfly exhibit, which is open during the summer months, is also an interesting feature.

Prehistoric Museum Bojnice

The Neanderthal territory (today’s Museum of Prehistory) in Bojnice was discovered by Karol Anton Medvecký, a Catholic priest and prior of the Bojnice parish. In his honour, the travertine cave was named Prepoštská. Neanderthals were already an advanced society for their time. They knew fire, made various stone tools and were successful hunters. The site is one of the most important settlements of Neanderthal prehistoric man.

In our area there are several ponds in which we keep fish, which we will be happy to prepare for you. In the pond 30x 30m you can catch the fish yourself. We will clean your catch for you and you can take it with you or have it prepared by the chef in our restaurant.

Agama Koš Golf Course

Just 4 km from RS Púšť is the Agama Golf Course. A new feature of the area is the breeding of beautiful Irish cob horses. There is a riding school directly on the premises, which is used for horse riding lessons. The area is for everyone, not only for golfers. Golf novices only need sports shoes, the rest will be taken care of on site. It is possible to see golf directly from the horse or from the golf cart.

Slovak Mining Museum Handlová

The museum presents the history of brown coal mining in Slovakia – in Handlová, with a focus on industrial mining in the 20th century. The construction of the museum, the first branch of the Slovak Mining Museum outside Banská Štiavnica, took place between 2009 and 2014. It was opened to the public in 2015. Three floors of the exposition are open to the public. The basement imitates the underground coal mining areas from the manual method to mechanised mining from the beginning of the 20th century.
