Bojnice Castle
Bojnice Castle is one of the 25 most beautiful castles in Europe. The castle lies on the western edge of the town of Bojnice and is visible from most of the upper Ponitria region. It rises on a travertine mound created by a spring of thermal water. It is first mentioned in writing in the Zoborská Charter from 1113. The original wooden fortress was rebuilt into a stone castle during the 13th century. Its most famous owners included Matúš Čák Trenčiansky, King Matěj Korvín and the wealthy noble family of Turz.
